Overheard at Whiskeyfest 2006...
Well, overheard because I was with the people who said them. Namely Shasta, 'Yana, Sid, Rob and myself. I was there, resplendent in my velvet smoking jacket and mafioso shades. Between Shasta MacNasty and 'Yana having legendary status from the previous year and my getup, we got a lot of looks from the regular joes at the fest.First off, who knew about Whiskey Tots? This little sippy cup that one is supposed to drink whiskey out of. Apparently this is a booming market... To which Shasta asked,
Forget about the Whiskey Tot... How about a pimp tot?
When checking into their swank Michigan Ave hotel, the clerk just gave them all the standards. The ladies weren't having it...
S and Y: And the prize is?
(uncomfortable pause)
Hotel Clerk: There is a wine reception on the 4th floor at 7:00.
S and Y: Thank you, that's more like it.
So let that show anyone who expects a little more than just the basics... Ask for the prize, expecting it.
The next quote from the weekend is a little harder to capture on a blog... but it's the following phrase:
Yyyyannah! You *know* you waaant it.
I'm still not quite sure what it is, but yes... I do in fact want it.
The girls also had an idea for a new drink that they're working on copyright or patent on... Liquid Neck. A drink so potent, well, that's how you'll feel. One other note I jotted down during the evening came from Shasta:
I'm gonna call everyone here Bobby.
I'm still not sure what it means, but it has the swank eccentrisim that I find so entertaining...
We stopped at Sid's hotel on our way from the fest to the afterparty at Delilahs, and while her room at the Club Quarters were cramped (you had to step into the hallway but since that was too small, you then had to step into the elevator if you wanted to change your mind)... she had a breathtaking view of the river and Wacker Drive... looking out past the IBM Building, Marina City and the Merchandise Mart.
All in all a fun time to be had by everyone, and oddly it made going into work Friday and Saturday a little more palatable, since i had a night out on the town.
