Whose colors are those? Mine.

Was at a charity function last night, and i was dressed to the sevens in my green and white Fluevog spectator shoes. They always get commented on. I mean, really; how often do you see green and white shoes around... Let alone spectators?

So, one of the other attendees was this older lady who complimented my shoes, asking where I got them, and commented on the colors. I mentioned that I have another pair from Fluvog that are orange and maroon that are equally fun.

She kinda looked perplexed, and asked, "Whose colors are those?" I think she was thinking of schools or sports team.

"They're mine, actually." since I really don't claim any allegiance to any sports team or notion of school spirit. And really orange is my color. I'm just letting Pantone use it.

I think this explains a lot about my heritage

CNN had an interesting story about a gulag themed park in my ancestral seat of Lithuania that's been open for 5 years now.

i know i have some commentary coming on this... but i need to let it digest a little. but uhm... Taking cattle cars to "Stalin's world" doesn't seem like a nice way to spend a vacation.

God Bless Second City Alums

Wow.

Any respect and admiration I had for Stephen Colbert just from his work on such shows as Exit 57, Strangers with Candy, the Daily Show and the Colbert Report (the Ts are silent) has just been multiplied by a factor of 10... make that 100.

Going into the lion's den, so to speak, he gave this speech to the White House Press Corps dinner... that was absolutely spot-on. Never mind that most of this material practically wrote itself since the press corps and the White House are in what Jon Stewart called a loveless marriage.

Colbert took the press corps to task for not asking the tough questions of the president. While most of the press corps have lauded Colbert as "unfunny" these are the same people who lare still laughing about how the president pronounces nuclear.

When the journalists (or is that supposed to be Journalists with a capital J) are too busy rubbing elbows and laughing at the stale jokes of the very establishment they are tasked with keeping honest, who's best interest are they working in?

I gotta hand it to Colbert... he'll probably never be invited back to speak at one of these functions, but I'm guessing he's not looking for that. He's just doing what no one in the mainstream media had the guts to do.
